【按】《博物学史研究专题》是我在清华大学科学史系给硕士和博士研究生开设的课程，按计划是隔年开一次。至于中间间隔出的年份，我会给本科生开《博物学史》，讲授的方式和程度会不同。等将来这门研究生课常态化地开起来后（主要制约条件是看是不是能留在清华），每年会更换不同的主题，但核心思路比较固定，是选择一些比较新近的论文或专著章节请同学们研读。这样一学期下来，应该就能够至少熟悉六七个小研究主题上比较值得注意的研究思路了。今年选择的主题是西方古代到现代早期的博物学，主要观摩的是比较出色的文本研究，这和我当前做的国家社科项目课题有关。具体选择文献的考虑是兼顾历史和哲学两方面：有些同学有哲学或哲学史上的兴趣，有些同学则是史学出身，关注的取向可能不太一样。在年代方面，我做平衡的结果是古代和中世纪有6次课，现代早期也有6次课，每两次课构成一个单元。从难度上看，前现代部分有两三篇可能会比较难，但选课同学细读一下的话，应该总是能读明白个大概其的。文献篇幅很难控制到完全均衡，只能在报告和讨论时把握了。
原本的设想中，还有一两次课是设置一些实习性质的史料会读，但这个时代的博物学材料都比较专门，也比较难读，因此从教学角度来说，研读那些史料的效果可能并没有读二手研究文献好。这一轮开课就姑且这样吧。等将来开课涉及18世纪之后的主题，也许再安排史料实践。
课程的考核也主要是读文献方面的训练，从精读到泛读再到学术史的归纳。考虑到目前选课同学不一定是做博物学史这个领域的，也就不请同学在期末写专门的研究论文了。有心的同学可以再结合自己的学位论文选题做探索。
总之先把这门课大纲的当前样子发出来，供参考。已选课的同学如果觉得不合适，可以考虑在开学时退课；如果另有感兴趣的同学，也可以考虑来旁听。PDF版可在这里下载，和下面的内容是一样的。
另外，奇怪的是，对着校历和调休通知算来算去，这个春季学期排在周一的课只上14次而非15次。希望我没有算错。

课程考核
- 课堂讨论参与（25%）：阅读每讲指定的阅读文献，撰写300字左右的札记，札记中应包含至少1个问题。讨论课之前的周日中午12:00前在网络学堂提交札记，并在课上参与口头讨论。
- 指定文献报告（30%）：根据分配的任务精读1篇文献，做口头报告：陈述作者试图解决的问题，总结作者的历史叙事线索，归纳核心论题及论证，并对学术史给出评述。
- 期末口头报告（15%）：自选1个西方古代至现代早期博物学史的研究主题（最好与自己精读的文献相关），泛读1篇自己寻找的关键文献，陈述作者的贡献并概括当下该主题的研究状况。
- 期末书面作业（30%）：根据期末口头报告的主题，撰写一份带评述的书目（annotated bibliography）：要求选择不少于10种研究文献加以简要评析。暂定2026年6月26日晚23:59前在网络学堂提交。
